The Battle of Atlanta 

        The Battle of Atlanta happened in 1864. It was a important battle during the Civil War. Northern army beat southern army at last. Southern army paid a fat price for this battle. Northern army just took Atlanta. The situation of Civil War changed a lot.

William Tecumseh Sherman was one of the leader of northern army. His army had about 100,000 soldiers.Joseph Eggleston Johnston was the leader of southern army. He had about 60,000 soldiers. Johnston had less soldiers than Sherman. He tried to fight with them smart. But Sherman’s army did well in moving. During May fifth to May nineteenth, Johnston left a small group to contain Sherman’s army. Most of the soldiers just walked to the left side. They did like this a lot of times. They fought some times on May twenty-eighth.

Sherman lost 3,000 soldiers and Johnston only lost 800 soldiers. On July twentieth, Johnston realized Sherman was going to Atalanta. They fought there. Both of them lost about 20,000 soldiers. Southern army fought a lot with Northern army.

 

        On April twenty-seventh to April Third-first. Sherman left part of the army to protect him. He lead rest of them went to south by walk around south. He took Atlanta in the next morning.

         The battle of Atalanta was a battle between northern people and southern people. They got a big successes in policy and destroyed a important part in south.
