Earth Day

Earth Day, as it was observed on

April 22, 1970. It was originally

conceived of as a college compus

"teach-in" comparable to the May

antiwar teach-ins of the late 1960s.

It gave a new consiousness, leading

human enery toward environment

problems. The idea was first suggested

by Senator Gaylord Nelson. In 1970, Congress passed and President Nixon signed the National Environment Protection Act, chich created a new agency-the Environment Protection.

On April 22, 1970, 20 million Americans took to the streets, parks, and auditoriums to demonstrate for a sustainable,  healthy environment. Thousands of students  got together and against deterioration of the environment.. They were fighting against oil spills, polluting factories and power plants, raw sewage, toxic dumps, pesticides, freeways, the loss of wilderness, and the extinction of wildlife suddenly realized they shared common values.

Earth Day is the first idea about protecting our environment. Before this, most protest is just about human rights or economy. It is a creative idea. People see the problem and try to solve it together. We still have Earth Day today. On every Aprill 22, we all have a new topic for us to work for it. Because of this, we pay a lot of attention in environment, and we actually did a lot things to protect environment. Everyone did something in our daily life. Because of this, everyone can own a stronger body and be healthier.
